Welcome Mustang Parents & Students:

I am extremely proud to serve as the Principal at Marlow Elementary! I have many fond memories of my days as a student here, beginning in Kindergarten in 1985. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would have the opportunity to lead such an amazing staff and serve these wonderful students and their families.

My educational background is a little nontraditional. I was the Band Director for Effingham County Middle School as well as an Assistant Director for the Effingham County HS Marching Band for 14 years! I then took on a new role as Assistant Principal at Sand Hill Elementary where I had the privilege to serve for 4 years before coming here to Marlow. Music was a passion of mine growing up, but I soon realized that my calling was not to just teach music, but to motivate and inspire others to reach their full potential. I believe that all students can learn and achieve great things when they are provided with a positive learning environment and teachers who are deeply invested in them. We share that passion here at Marlow and will strive each and every day to provide that for your children.

Below is a picture of my family at Rincon First Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, 2021. My wife, Kenza, is the Assistant Principal / Instructional Supervisor for the Effingham College and Career Academy. Our two sons are Colton and Easton. Our family enjoys the outdoors and especially fishing and camping on the Ogeechee River, where I grew up as a child.

I look forward to another great year at Marlow and especially look forward to meeting and building relationships with our students and their families. Marlow Elementary is a special place, full of amazing staff and students, and I am honored to be a part of the family.

Biography

My name is Matt Hunnewell and I am very excited to serve as Assistant Principal here at Marlow Elementary! This is my fourth year as Assistant Principal.

I received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education (2006) from Gordon College, a Bachelors Degree in Marine Science (2010) from Savannah State University, and a Masters Degree in Marine Science (2013) from Savannah State University. I have taught science over the past 9 years; Beach High School, Islands High School, and South Effingham High School. I have a true passion for science and education. I enjoy seeing students learn, making connections, and developing skills that they will carry into their adult lives. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I was a Boys Soccer Coach for 2 years at Islands High School and then was the head coach for Boys Soccer for 5 years at South Effingham High School. We won 4 region championships during my time there. GO STANGS!

I look forward to the opportunity to serve Marlow and the Effingham County community!

Biography

Hello Mustangs!

My name is Ginger Kessler, and I am proud to serve as one of the assistant principals at Marlow Elementary School. I am honored and excited to continue working with the incredible students, staff, and families of the Mustang community.

This will be my third year as an assistant principal at MES. Before joining Marlow, I spent 12 years teaching at ECMS and served as an administrator there for eight years. I am a proud graduate of Georgia Southern University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.

My husband, Cal, and I have been married for 22 years, and we are blessed with three amazing boys—Bryson, Kolton, and Carver. Bryson and Kolton are twins and currently 11th grade students at SEHS, while Carver is in 5th grade right here at MES. As a family, we love spending time together with our extended family and friends.

I’m looking forward to another fantastic school year filled with learning, growth, and Mustang pride!

Biography

My name is Nivea Lee, and I am so proud to serve Marlow Elementary School as your instructional supervisor and assistant principal. Over the past few years, it has been a true joy to be part of the Marlow family, and I’m looking forward to another wonderful year working alongside our incredible students, staff, and families!

Here is a little bit about me: I was born and raised in a military family and have lived in Belgium, Germany, Iowa, and various places in Georgia. After graduating from Richmond Hill High School, I graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University with my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Early Childhood education. I then attended the University of West Georgia, where I earned my specialist degree in Elementary education and Tier 1 leadership certificate.

I am extremely passionate about the field of education and come from a long line of educators. I have taught for 15 years from grades 1st-5th grade, and have taught in Effingham County for 4 years now.

My husband and I have 2 beautiful daughters (ages 10 and 5), 2 dogs, and 10 chickens! We love visiting downtown Savannah, various beaches, and just relaxing at home.

I look forward to serving the Marlow Elementary School faculty, staff, students, and families in this role for this upcoming school year.
